Blogging

Blogging is not as easy as it seems.

Over the last 6 months or so, I have been an avid reader of several blogs. I have two or three that I must read daily. They either encourage me, challenge my thinking, or make me laugh. Until I created my own blog, I thought blogging would be easy. After all, what could be so hard about coming up with something to write for a blog?

Writing just any old thing is easy, but writing something that will be interesting or inspiring to someone else is an entirely different exercise. I want my blog to be meaningful to those who read it. Therefore, I have hesitated to post anything. Even those things that are interesting to me. The main reason I have hesitated to tell anyone about my blog because I am afraid. I fear that my writing won’t be appreciated in the way that I’d like. I fear laughter when laughter is not intended. I fear ridicule and mockery. I am afraid that I’m just not all that interesting. So, since I first posted on June 1, I have learned that meaningful, God-honoring blogging is not easy.

Starting today, I will endeavor to post everyday. After all, there are many topics I find myself pondering. There are several books I am reading and I’d like a place to put my thoughts. Up until now, my thoughts have been collected in a series of spiral bound notebooks, and, honestly, I don’t have room for anymore notebooks.

Another reason I want to blog is I believe writing to be an important discipline and I’d like to cultivate in my life in the hopes that I will become a gifted writer that others will like to read.

In reality, my blog may never be read by anyone but my husband, and that will probably be because I ask him to. I will be very happy if he chooses to read my blog everyday. I will be ecstatic if he enjoys reading my blog everyday. After all, his particular approval and interest make my heart flutter.

Finally, a blog that does not glorify God is not worth anything. My ultimate reason for daily blogging will be to glorify God and draw the hearts and minds of others to Him.
