Most of the SAHMs who read this blog may not be too interested in this post. I’ll keep this one short. Early this morning, Mike Shula was released from his position as head football coach of The University of Alabama. The main thing on my mind right now is who will be the next head coach. There are rumors flying around that our new coach will be Steve Spurrier! I can’t imagine that he would want to leave South Carolina, but…who knows? Anything is possible. I don’t really believe this rumor is true because the other part of the rumor is that Bill Oliver would come with Spurrier as the Defensive Coordinator. That would be tooo good. I feel giddy just thinking about it. I’m ready for Bama to be back on top!
What’s your favorite college team?

Football seems to be *so* popular in the U.S. I guess the equivalent over here would be hockey ๐

Alright now, Kelly, settle down! Remember, nothing sucks like a big orange.

OH, wouldn’t the VOLS fans just love for Spurrier to move to Bama. Just another reason for the the Big Orange to hate the Tide. You know they still hate Spurrier with a passion and they just love to beat Bama. They’d have their cake and eat it, too.I’m an Auburn fan, but married to an Alabama graduate. I know, we’re a mixed marraige. But it has worked for 22 years. We actually watched the game together this year. Poor thing,,,,He’d resigned himself to losing to Auburn, yet again,,,and Bama’s season being 6-6. I try to be a gracious winner. I know the Tide will turn eventually.

Kelly–I hope you know I’m just playing with you with that last comment. Renee–I’m really not sure that most Bama fans would love Spurrier. After all, he was the one who turned UA in to the NCAA and started the investigations a few years ago. I was just sick watching the Iron Bowl. So you married a Bama fan? You know what the Bible says about being unequally yoked, right? ;)Kim–that is hilarious!

OK, you aremy kinda girl! I will have to say that I think it would be neat if you all did get Spurrier. I am a pro football fan – dedicated fully and only to the Washington Redskins! And since Spurrier was once a coach for them – even though they did not do great (and still aren’t even with Joe Gibbs back – it would be neat to see him go there and do some magic!

Well, Spurrier is definitely NOT coming to Bama ๐ฆ I heard he was offered a VERY sweet deal ($30 million over 7 years, etc) and he turned it down. He wants to stay at SC and lead them to an SEC championship. (I’m not holding my breath). Today (12-7-06) the news is all about what Nick Saban turned down. Mal Moore (the UA athletic director) made an offer to Rich Rodriguez. As usual, Paul Finebaum is on in the kitchen, just within earshot of our schooltable.
