Karl bought the new JJ Cale and Eric Clapton album. He’s been listening to it for a couple of weeks now. On our way to a Christmas banquet Saturday night, he started skipping through it because he wanted me to hear one song in particular. He does this to me all the time, so I sighed and waited for the next “great” song. He insisted I would like it: “It’s sweet!” As usual, he was right.
So, now I’m returning the favor. This is the sweetest song. I promise you’ll like it. The melody is pleasant, too. If I could put an audio file of it on this blog, I would. I recommend going to iTunes for the download.
Eric Clapton has experienced his share of suffering: drug addiction, cigarettes, and alcohol, rehab, failed relationships, and the tragic death of his son, Conor. He seems at peace with God after all that he’s been through. This song reflects the joy and contentment he feels in being home. When I heard this the first time, I heard it as a prayer of thanksgiving for children. I’m happy for him.
Three Little Girls
When this world got me feeling low
I don’t need nowhere else to go
‘Cause I get all the love I need
From three little girlsIn the garden collecting snails
On the bed reading fairytales
I get all I’ll ever need
From three little girls‘Cause all my world was sad and weary
All my days were winding down
Then you showed me a better way
My three little girlsLord, you put me to the test
And led me through the wilderness
Then you showed me a brighter day
My three little girlsJulie Rose and Ella May
Sophie Belle, you came to stay
You take my breath away
My three little girls‘Cause all my world was sad and weary
All my days were winding down
You showed me a better way
My three little girlsMy three little girls

Chris is my music junkie so I will have to get him to download this song. It is beautiful! I love Eric Clapton but we haven’t had one of his CD’s in a long time. I love it when musicians really pour their heart into a song!

Eric plays an acoustic guitar and Taj Mahal plays the harmonica. It has a playful and gentle melody.
