Our day started a bit earlier than usual today. Benjamin and Noah had appointments with our asthma and allergy physician at 8:30 this morning. Praise God we made it on time. As we were getting ready, and I kept looking at the clock, I was amazed that we were actually going to be there on time. That’s five breakfasts, 1 cold bath (Karl uses ALL the hot water in the tank), five dressings, five face washings, ten brushings, 1 make-up session, and ten shoeings by 8 AM! Oh, and I fed the cat.
Benjamin and Noah received excellent reports from the doctor. This means that our asthma management plan is working. After spending several days in the hospital with Benjamin last year and a near miss with Noah this past spring, this is cause for much rejoicing in my house! In years past, this time of year we spent a lot of time seeing the doctor. I am so thankful that we have avoided all manner of illness this season. No one has even had one bit of upset stomach, runny nose, cough, or any of the other things that plague us in fall and winter. I am extremely thankful for God’s protection over us these last several months.
Dr. H did caution me regarding the impending spring and that I needed to have the nasal spray (the first line of defense against asthma attack) ready. So, now I’m sitting here bursting my own bubble…but I’m reminded of this:
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:34
Today? Today is good, and I’m going to enjoy it.

That’s great news Leslie!! I’ve also been in the hospital far too much, and our middle son was close to death from severe asthma triggered by a cold, before his second birthday. My heart always goes out to others who have gone through the same trials.

I had no idea so many people die each year because of an asthma attack until I learned more about it. I had this idea that if you just take your inhaler along, then you’ll be fine. So naive.

That is great news! I pray you have a great winter. And I know what you mean about all those dressings – sometimes that’s what’s so tiring – just getting everyone dressed to go – and then add all the winter jackets, etc – I’m getting tired thinking of it!

I’m really glad for you that your boys are well and that the preventive stuff is working. Our little jack Henry seems to have some allergy type problems…he has been using Rhinocort on and off for nose issues…he has been a lot more sick than any of the girls.

Great report! We have had a great fall and winter so far with our little asthma sufferer! I think she is growing out of most of it. We have even been able to stop daily breathing treatments! Glad for your good report!

I’ve been giving my son and hub a fruit juice called Xango since last Jan and they haven’t needed their inhalers since then. You might want to try that out too. This is the site: jilliankay.natureswellnesssecret.com
