Works-for-Me-Two-Days-After-Wednesday

We threw a big party for Noah December 30. “Clean the inside of the microwave” was on my list of things to clean before the party started. However, with all the painting and everything we had to finish before the party, cleaning the microwave stopped looking like a priority. I thought to myself, as I was quickly running out of time, “Why would anyone have to open the microwave anyway?” So, I left it undone.

Fast forward to party-time. My SIL had one child who couldn’t eat our food (tacos) because of a sensitive stomach due to antibiotics and another child who is at a picky stage. She brought along one of those Easy Mac packages for him. Ta-da: a reason for someone to open the microwave! (Well, it’s not like I’m going to refuse to let her use the microwave to save my pride. Hospitality and all that.) So I apologized for the spaghetti that covered the inside of my microwave and she made her macaroni. As the Lord would have it, there was another woman present who happened to have a great idea for cleaning a microwave. And that is what I want to share with you for my works-for-me-two-days-after-Wednesday post.

#1 Cut up about half a lemon.
#2 Put lemon on a microwave-safe plate.
#3 Place in microwave.
#4 Cook it for a minute or two.
#5 Wipe microwave clean.

Apparently, the lemony steam does something to loosen all the baked on foods to make them easier to wipe away. Added bonus: the kitchen smells all nice and lemony.

*Danger: doing this will also cause you to crave a good Key Lime Pie.

  1. I’ve done the same thing with a cup of water, but I’ll have to try this. I love the scent of lemons.Happy New Year Leslie 🙂
