Unfortunately I really don’t have anything worthwhile to write. I have a lot on my mind, but it’s not in any way ready to be published. I sat down yesterday to write, but the words didn’t make their way out as I hoped.
A friend of mine and I are studying through Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology together. As I did my homework this week, I had to really consider the perspective of the seraphim regarding creation and how they continually cry out, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is full of His glory.” Have you ever wondered why they do that all the time? Have you thought about how they can do that all the time? How they have probably done so from the very moment they were created? They are seeing the same creation we see, right? Think about all of creation in light of Isaiah 6:3, and leave a comment with your thoughts.
One more thing: Westminster Bookstore has a new design and some new features.

My first thought is as related to people, the whole earth is full of His glory both in the sovereign exercise of His mercy to the elect and in His condemnation of the unregenerate. In regards to all created things, the whole earth is full of His glory in life because He gives life and in death because He holds the keys (every hair and every sparrow). In regards to every operation of His creation, the whole earth is full of His glory in every nook, cranny, crevice and crack because in Him we live and move and have our being. In Him alone do all things hold together. Holy, holy, holy is He and must He be because only a Holy God can exercise the perfection of His character in every ordained will–He is wholly removed from an unclean motive in how He exercises His will towards people, created things and creation.

Elle, you bring out two points that always boggle my mind when I think about them. First, the fact that “in Him alone do all things hold together.” When I look around and consider that every single thing I see and touch and feel and taste and hear is being held in place by His power, His word, His will, I am astounded.Second, you mentioned that His character, thus, His actions and will, are absolutely, perfectly, wholly good and pure in all things at all times. There is so much glory in that fact I almost can’t stand it! It is comforting and terrifying to me at the same time. Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful comment!

Angelena, pick it up and start reading as you have time! I think Grudem’s book is very accessible. Reading it will enrich your devotions and worship. Furthermore, studying the Scriptures systematically will help give you a solid foundation on which to stand.

I can’t believe you had trouble getting words out. Writing seems so effortless for you :)Even this short snippet is rich with thought provoking questions and Elle’s comments could keep me reeling for days.I am certain that I miss out on His glory in the details of my life every single day but I embrace that in spite of my failures He has graciously made me whole. That my wretched state does not keep me separated from His holiness.
