LitLovers Update–Please Vote

I really appreciate all of the input and suggestions! I am going to have a hard time making a decision. I think I am leaning toward non-fiction for our first book and something fiction for our second book. Your comments did help me determine one thing–we won’t be reading Redeeming Love together. I’m not saying that I won’t read it, but so many of you have already read it that it doesn’t make sense to choose that one.

I have narrowed down the choices, now you get to decide. The links will take you to the Amazon Reader so you can see the table of contents of each book. The Excellent Wife is not available, however, so I listed its table of contents below. You can vote anonymously if you want. Just leave your preference in the comments. I will be pleased with any of these:
1. The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace
2. Women’s Ministry in the Local Church by Ligon Duncan and Susan Hunt
3. Praying: Finding Our Way Through Duty to Delight by J.I. Packer and Carolyn Nystrom

  1. These all look great and I will participate whatever you decide. I’ve read The Excellent Wife, but it was several years ago and I could stand to read it again. Sorry, I know I’m not helping, I just wanted to let you know I’m in.

  2. Maybe it’s just my computer, but the links didn’t take me to the books. I just typed in the titles once on Amazon and found them that way. They all look fabulous! The Excellent Wife is currently being read and discussed on the Moms of Grace forum, if that makes any difference.I’m open to any of the three. (And, wow, so many others by Susan Hunt as I browsed amazon…)

  5. I’ve been wanting to read The Excellent Wife for a while, so that’s my vote. Women’s Ministry in the Local Church looks good, too.

  6. I am going to vote for “Praying”. The subtitle alone “Finding Our Way Through Duty to Delight” is enough to make me realize I don’t think I have ever read a good book on prayer (or a book by Packer, actually). Of course I am already reading “Women’s Ministry” anyway, so that one would be okay by me, too!

  9. I’ve read The Excellent Wife and would enjoy reading it again. Also would like Praying: …Duty to Delight. Really, how can I choose?? They do all sound good. I just wonder how I’m going to find the time with a new little one in the house and keeping up with the Puritan reading challenge. I’ll figure something out!

  14. I’d really like to read Women’s Ministry in the Local Church. I like the way the chapters are based on Scripture passages not just some topic the authors thought up themselves.~Sharon from Equip Academy

  15. I’m glad I decided to let you vote since I could not make a choice between the three. It looks like The Excellent Wife is going to be the one. I’ll let the voting go through the day before I close the comments.
