Well, it was Neil Diamond week on American Idol. The whole reason we started watching the show this season is because we heard that he would be one of the mentors. I’m so glad we didn’t miss it. I love me some Neil Diamond! I have no idea why, but, when I was a kid, The Jazz Singer was one of my favorite movies. The last time I saw it I wondered why my mother let me watch it. It deals with some really adult subject matter. I must have loved it for the music, because, of course, I didn’t understand any of the deeper issues. My favorite part was when one of the musicians knocked around a puppet and said, “I want more boom boom boom!” Oh, to be so young and innocent.
Anyways, Mr. Diamond has a new album coming out May 6. He performed his new song, “Pretty Amazing Grace” on American Idol last night. Here’s the clip in case you missed it…
For the record, I am really going to miss Brooke White.

I liked Brooke, too. She wasn’t the strongest singer, but I like that she brought back the whole singer/songwriter vibe. I haven’t watched the show for very long, so I don’t know if anyone has done that before, but it seems as though Brooke and Jason were sort of rebels from the normal AI style.

I like Brooke a lot. My favorite is David Cook, but I’d buy albums from Brooke or Jason either one. Actually, I like everyone in the top 5 except for Archuletta, though I may be in the minority on that one.

Melissa, you are not alone. Archuletta is not my favorite, either. Yes, he can sing anything, but he’s boring. The arrangement he sang to “Sweet Caroline” was WRONG!!!

NOT a Neil fan here…but totally a Brooke fan! We are also pulling for David C and as for David A…well, he’s not our fav either. Too boring (can you imagine one of his concerts?) and too nasally. I really want to like Jason but he seems to be floundering.I’m with siftedheart; it will be a battle of the Davids!
