What’s On Your Nightstand? July

This month I read and reviewed Freedom and Boundaries by Kevin DeYoung and 101 Devotions for the Home School Mom by Jackie Wellwood.

I read the parts of The Well-Trained Mind that I needed to read in order to prepare for the new school year.

I was in the mood for some poetry and spent a few evenings in Shakespeare’s sonnets. *deep, contented sigh*

I am so close to the end of The Brothers Karamazov. The K family is a mess.

I’m reading Charlotte’s Web to my younger two children. And I’m still reading The Lord of the Rings to the older kids.

I see now that I didn’t read much in July. I only finished two books. Most of my free time has been devoted to family stuff and planning our next school year.

What are you reading?

  1. I have begun reading again for the umpteenth time, John Piper's "Desiring God". I have begun is so many times and not gotten very far past the introduction. There is so much to chew on.I am going to begin "Desiring God Wednesdays" on my blog as I muddle my way through the book.

  2. I've had a slow July in the reading dept. too, which is strange for me. Happy Reading.

  3. A few months back, my online book club was reading The Brothers Karamazov, but it was a month that I had other things going on and I missed it. I kinda regretted it, though, because I heard it was a really compelling read.
