health.com published an article featuring 7 healthy oatmeal recipes. I looked them over and decided that I think I like my own oatmeal recipe best (even though it isn’t really a recipe). Even kids like the way I make my oatmeal! Since tomorrow is the first day of school, I expect to make plenty of this in the morning.
I start with 1/2 cup of oatmeal. I add a spoonful of brown sugar, a handful of raisins, a handful of craisins, a handful of walnuts. Then, I sprinkle it with cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg. I also add a splash of vanilla.
Sometimes I slice up a banana and add it to the bowl. It’s even better when I add something to give it a little crunch, like crisp chunks of apple or dried berries.
Finally, I pour 1 cup of water into the bowl.
Microwave for 1:30.
I enjoy it with 2 cups of hot coffee.
One thing I can never enjoy in oatmeal: chocolate. Yuck!
