Last summer I thought I would read Oprah’s recommendations for her book club. She picked three by William Faulkner. I thought I might enjoy them considering he is thought to be one of the greats of American Literature. However, I found myself so depressed last summer because of those books! I should have known better than to read one more of her choices, much less three. I have read Oprah’s picks in the past and am always left wondering what the big deal is. Her picks are usually sad stories full of confused and conflicted individuals who never achieve a resolution. I have had enough of Oprah, in more ways than one.
