Catching up

We are going to MIL’s house to visit and watch Bama vs. Arkansas today. I hope I enjoy this game. The last couple of games haven’t been very exciting for this Bama fan. I’ll also be doing lots of laundry this weekend.

I spent some time this morning catching up on reading my favorite sites since I didn’t make much time for the internet this week. I found some interesting stories that I think are worth sharing:

Did you know VeggieTales is now on NBC as a Saturday morning cartoon? Well, we don’t have cable so it’s news to me. It is not surprising that NBC wants to edit all religious content. They like the positive message of VeggieTales, they just want to avoid endorsing a particular religion. The fact that NBC does not understand is that the reason VeggieTales is so popular is because of its Christian content!

I enjoy reading Dr. Al Mohler’s blog every week. He usually has something interesting. One thing Hubby and I had to think long and hard about when we were planting a church was the direction our services were going to take. Every person in our core group had a different perspective on meeting a person’s felt needs. (I’m not making this up. We really had discussions about this!) That’s why posts like this one catch my eye. God is our greatest need, and our commission is to tell people they need Him more than anything else on this planet.

Just in case you forgot, John Piper reminds us that God is Not Boring!

Wal-Mart is dropping their generic drug costs to $4. Target is following suit. I wonder if Walgreens and CVS and all the other pharmacies will do the same. I love my free-market economy!

Finally, something funny. Last night, Noah, basketball in hand, ran through the kitchen declaring, “I’m jiggling! I’m jiggling!”

That would be dribbling, Noah.

  1. Well, the game was exciting, but I am sure not to your liking. What a disappointment for the Bama fans.

  2. OH, you’re not kidding! The game was terrible. I don’t stay depressed about football games, but Hubby was quite disappointed for several hours. Renee–are you the same Renee who entered her name in the drawing for the Max Lucado book? If you are, I’ve been waiting for you to come back. You won!

  3. Love the Al Mohler article. Our former pastor told us he structured his sermons around who would be in the audience and their needs. Don’t get me going on felt needs …
