Sometimes, when things are going well, we might too easily forget that we have only one sure, immovable, dependable strength–Jesus, who was a baby once and is always and forever God. That is what holds us and keeps us whether or not we can carry out our traditions. May our decorations, gifts, and festivities–or lack of them–never block our view of him but always point us toward him.

I think these are good words to remember, too. Jenn–I need to try and leave a comment on your blog now. Maybe blogger is all fixed?!

I was having commenting problems too, but they fixed themselves yesterday.I love the book you quoted Leslie. I purchased it about three years ago and have the “Noel calendar” mentioned in the book. We use it as part of our advent celebrations. There are so many down to earth, practical and yet lovely ideas in there – I can totally see why John Piper would refer to his wife as “velvet steel”. And, the birthday poems written for the children…oh my! They make me tear up every single time. I had hoped to do a review of this book on my blog, but between Christmas and packing it will have to wait for now. If you review it I’ll be sure to link to it!

I must get this book! I have read experts from it,but I need to read all of it. It sounds wonderful…and yes,I agree…all the *stuff* can be distractions from the One and only One who is deserving of our praise!Kim
