Benjamin is choosing “Work” as his poem to share today. He is learning these little verses in the Grammar curriculum we use for first grade, First Language Lessons by Jesse Wise. He is reciting while I type.
Work
by Anonymous
Work while you work,
Play while you play.
This is the way to be happy each day.
All that you do,
Do with your might.
Things done by halves
Are never done right.
This poem will preach to you if you let it. I can apply it to doing the dishes and dusting the furniture. I can apply it when the kids need to finish their schoolwork before I let them outside to play. I can apply it to the consistency I need in training my children. I can apply it to growing in godliness as Paul and Peter write in their epistles. If any of these things are done halfway, it eventually becomes obvious and the fruit is unpleasant.

Wow, I like that! I needed that challenge, and the simplicity of that poem makes the inspiration more profound ;). Thanks for your comment on my blog. I’m enjoying my visit to yours, and am sticking you in my favorites ;). God bless you!

That’s a good idea for anyone. Especially kids who need to remember to keep their minds on school work!

I’m using that resource too. That poem certainly is a great teaching resource.
