**Please note the change at the bottom of post!
I really wanted to get started on my posts for Heaven at Home this week. I’ve already sketched my posts for the first three chapters! However, this week wasn’t the best of weeks, and I didn’t want to publish a half-hearted post. Remember Joe vs. The Volcano? I felt like I was living under a “brain cloud.” I just moved from one task to another each day without really thinking. So, I ignored H&H and allowed myself to get lost in P&P.
But my brain cloud isn’t really my big surprise.
After reading about Ginger Plowman (author, speaker, mother, homeschooler) and realizing she actually lives in my state, I thought, “Hey! She’s a normal gal! Here is an author I might actually have a chance to talk to. She probably doesn’t have a bunch of handlers choreographing her every move.” So, I ventured out into the internet in search of an email address, found one, and sent her an email. Well, guess what! She replied and would love to do an interview for Lux Venit!!! An email interview, but it’s still an interview. I am so excited!
So, here’s the deal: I want those of you who’ve read her books to help me think of some questions to ask her. I know how it is to finish a “mommy”book and want to sit down with the lady who wrote it and pick her brain some more. I already have some questions in mind and I’d love your input. I’m thinking of thoughtful questions regarding family, parenting, homeschooling, etc. Don’t be shy!! Email me or leave a comment, post a little blurb on your blog about it if you want.
BONUS: If you submit a question (ridiculous questions won’t be considered), your name will be entered in a draw for Ginger’s books. Three lucky ladies will receive a copy of one of her books: Heaven at Home, Don’t Make Me Count to Three, and Wise Words for Moms. All it costs you is the time to think of a good question and email me. I will receive questions until next Friday, February 23. The kids will help me draw the winner Monday morning, February 26.
This is going to be so much fun!
**Janet left a comment saying that she had never read one of Plowman’s books, otherwise she would offer a question to enter the drawing. I realize now the foolishness of leaving out women who have NOT read her books. Therefore! I am going to change the “rules.” [It’s my blog, I can change what I want to!] If you have not read any of Plowman’s books, but would like a chance to win one, then please leave a comment! We are going to operate on the honor system. There are now two ways to play:
1) If you’ve read a Plowman book, then offer a question.
2) If you’ve never read a Plowman book, then leave a comment with your name.

I am planning to cull all the questions and formulate ten really good questions to email to her after next Friday. I’ll post the interview as a grande finale of blogging through her book. shawnda–submit a question you have from reading H & H! Maybe I’ll draw your name for DMMCTT.

I love that she was so willing to visit with you. That is exciting news. If I think of a question, I’ll let you know. Way to go out on a limb there and contact her. In college, I became enamored with the work of a filmmaker who I saw at Sundance. We had to do a report on a filmmakmer and since she was indy and had no books written about her, I contacted her production company and asked them to forward an email to her from me. Long story short, she spoke to me on the phone for over and hour and overnighted me her personal copy of her latest documentary under pain of death that I return it unharmed. It was so awesome and made me really believe that all people are just people and some of them surprisingly gracious

Janet–you know, now that I think about it, it really doesn’t make sense to exclude women who’ve never read her books! I’m going to have to change that.

Thanks Janet. I haven’t read any books of hers either but would love to ‘win’ one to read. I look forward to seeing the interview!

I haven’t heard of her either, but it sounds like they are highly recommended, and I’m always up for new books to read, even ones on motherhood. =) I look forward to reading the interview.

I haven’t read one either, but the current review and the title of the other one, “Don’t make me count to three” sound great!I’ll send you an e-mail question, but I’m not sure how old her kids are and I am really looking for some practical tips for nurturing the oldest sibling/youngest sibling relationship and developing respect between those two.
