“Alive without breath;
as cold as death;
never thirsting, ever drinking;
clad in mail, never clinking.
Drowns on dry land,
thinks an island
is a mountain;
thinks a fountain
is a puff of air.
So sleek, so fair!
What a joy to meet!”
Who sings this song and of what is he singing?
What book am I reading?

Kim, I figured you might be the one to answer!! The only thing is that I didn’t consider the fact that that riddle is also in The Hobbit. I am actually reading The Two Towers. Gollum recites it as he leads Frodo and Sam through the Dead Marshes. Of course, I didn’t need to tell you that, though.

I have not read these books for 25 years, time to check them out of the library and reread them. My boyfriend had to read the Hobbit when he was in college. I picked it up and then had him get the other two books, too. Even though I married him, I have no idea what happened to those books! And now you have a very good idea of how old I am!I enjoy your blog, thanks for lettimg me visit.

Ahh – I should have known it was Tolkien! I actually wondered, but I haven’t read the Hobbit in over 5 years. It might be my favorite of the whole LOTR series, though.
