50 Women Memorizing Scripture Together

I finally have something worth sharing! Susan Heck, author of the With the Master series of Bible studies, emailed me tonight and shared that she had just returned from a blessed weekend of teaching women in Florida. Some of the women at this conference had been studying Tested Faith, an expository study of James written by Mrs. Heck (see my review). Here’s what she wrote:

I just returned from doing a ladies conference in Florida and about 50 of them stood up and quoted the epistle of James from heart! It was a joy! They have been going through my book. The Lord has been ever so gracious to me and I am humbled that He would use me for His purposes.

Isn’t that awesome?! Praise the Lord!

If you haven’t picked up this Bible study, I want to encourage you (again) to do so. I’ve been involved in lots of women’s Bible studies over the years. This study is excellent.

Also, and I’m writing this for myself more than anyone else, start memorizing substantial portions of scripture again. I haven’t memorized a whole chapter of Scripture since I finished memorizing Philippians about TWO YEARS AGO! That’s too long.

Lord Jesus, help me. I find that I desire You much less than I should. And I have found my passion for Your Word to be much less now than it was even a few months ago. I am far too easily pleased with other things. Let it not be so.

  1. Hey, let’s do it, Leslie! Tell me what you want to memorize. James is good – I always need more wisdom!

  2. Cool! I just started Romans 8 a few weeks ago. I’ve never undertaken such a project, but I’ve been really inspired to do this.

  4. I used to memorize scripture with a friend of mine, years ago, but when she moved, I stopped. You’re right, it is so important to have these words in our hearts.

  5. I found your blog through Life in Oregan. I am very excited to read about your extended Scripture memorization. A friend of mine and I learned James last year, and decided to tackle Ephesians this year. It has been a hug blessing in my life!

  6. I’m considering Psalm 103. It’s not too long and not too short.

  7. I’m hoping to go hear Susan Heck in April. She’s speaking at a ladies conference up in Washington. Four of us from church are hoping to check her out and see if we could host our own conference in the future! I’m so exciting (and hoping it works out).
