Guard Us, Guide Us: Divine Leading in Life’s Decisions by J.I. Packer and Carolyn Nystrom
I’m about half-way through their work, Prayer: Finding Our Way Through Duty to Delight. Based on that, Guard Us, Guide Us is probably one I will enjoy.

I’ve read Duguid’s commentary on Esther & Ruth and it is top class – another one to add to your list if it’s not already there! At some point I’d like to look at his one on Daniel also.

Hi Nicki! I have the Esther & Ruth commentary on my bookshelf, I just haven’t started reading it yet. I’m camping out in Psalms right now. Thanks for the book recommendations (on the other post). I’ve only read one Sharon James book–her biography of Elizabeth Prentiss. I’m sure I would enjoy the others. I love to read biography.

I second Nicki’s recommendation of Esther and Ruth, I just started reading the Ruth part of Duguid’s commentary and it is excellent! Didn’t realize there was another one by Packer/Nystrom combo, will have to look out for that!

I’m using Duguid’s commentary as we study Esther and Ruth in Bible study; it’s great!I’ve GOT to order my copy of “The Excellent Wife” and just might have to add a couple to the shopping cart; you know, to take full advantage of shipping. Or somthing like that. 😉
