In between schoolwork and housework today, I’ve been writing a post to share some of my resolutions for 2013. (Clearly, I am feeling not-at-all like myself and optimistic about the future.) Eventually, though, I decided that a fresh post wouldn’t be ready. That is, until, as I was reading through my overflowing list of new material in the feedreader, I noticed Persis wrote a Thankful Thursday post.

Yes, it IS Thursday! I thought to myself. The one day of the week when I have a ready topic.

Today I am thankful for

• time spent playing Monopoly with Abbey. It is her favorite game. Normally, she beats the pants off everyone in the family, but the odds were in my favor today.
• fresh apples from the grocery store. They’re so shiny and pretty. I hope they taste as good as they look.
• a decent start back to school. How many days til Spring Break?
• fun times reading aloud in the evenings. Karl does better voices than I do, and he’s so entertaining.
