Photos from a sweet, simple engagement this weekend
A friend called this past week to see if I’d be available to photograph her daughter’s engagement. Well, of course! I love these types of happy events, plus it gave me a good excuse to visit with friends I hadn’t seen in about 13 years. Emma was just in elementary school when our families last hung out together. She’s a junior at UA now and such a beauty, inside and out!
Josh’s plan was to propose at the same place he asked Emma to be his girlfriend a couple of years ago – by the fountain in the engineering quad. So, I found a bush to hide behind and tried not to get in the way until it looked like they were ready for me to interrupt them for some more photos. The University of Alabama is a good place to fall in love, folks.

CONGRATULATIONS, EMMA & JOSH!
Back to taking photos feels good.
As we were heading out the door Friday morning, I spotted a garden spider waiting in her web built in one of my crepe myrtles. I enjoy watching these orb-weavers.
Get a little closer….
Because I let yesterday pass without taking any pictures, I went out-of-my-way today to take a few. I drove outside town to see if the sunflowers were still blooming. The property owner has already transitioned much of his farming area to corn stalks and bean bushes, but there were some flowers remaining. Though most of them are now brown and drooping, I found one patch of pretty flowers.
In April, before the craziness of summer 2014, I had the privilege of photographing this wonderful family again. They are just precious. Abi is beautiful, and her daughter is such a sweetheart. I just love the way this session turned out. The weather was perfect, and Hadassah loved swinging.
OK, the above photo is not in focus, but it’s one of my favs.
Please share! If you like it, then you oughta put a pin in it. 🙂
