Thursday Thirteen: Romans

Here are thirteen of my favorite scriptures from The Epistle to the Romans.

Romans 1:16–For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Romans 5:8–But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:19–For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.

Romans 6:17-18–But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.

Romans 8:1–There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:18–For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Romans 8:28–And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:32–He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

Romans 8:37-39–No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 11:33–Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

Your turn! What are your favorites?

  1. I love Romans! Those are great scriptures! Our pastor has been preaching through Romans and we are on Ch 16…after 4 1/2 years! (I think that is right)anyway, there is so much in there! It is so rich!I pray you have a wonderful weekend worshiping with your family!!!

  2. Amen and amen! You’ve named all my favs, but I also like 5:1-2:Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Thourgh him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

  3. Love my Romans! The entire Chapter 8 is referred to by Boice as the jewel of the New Testament. I have to agree…However, I am so comforted by Paul’s struggle of Chapter 7..knowing this is the same struggle we still face and can only overcome through the power of the Holy Spirit. This chapter reminds me I am NORMAL. 🙂 Have a blessed Easter!
