It causes people to believe that some tasks are insignificant and not worth doing. Or worse, that God is not in them.

You are standing on my soapbox!: DIt also infers that that old adage is true: don’t bother God with the little stuff.Life is made up of the little stuff and God has ordained it all!

The flip side of this says that if a thing is big, then God MUST be in it.

I tend to be one of those on the opposite side here too. I tend to think that too many people try to do things in their own power– where they can get the glory. If you look through the Old Testament, God was given the most glory when there was a “God-sized” task. Noah, Abraham, Joshua, Elijah, Peter, Paul, etc.Even in modern times, God has been glorified by the workings of George Mueller, D.L. Moody, etc.I think we spend too much time dreaming up what we can do for God and trying to “do things” rather than building our relationship so that we’re ready for a “God-sized” task. The God of Elijah is at work today, and can still do the things that He did before, but the people that He has to work with are not completely yielded to Him.Rather than retire it, I would instead vote that people should yearn to be joining God in His work so that He alone will receive the glory.

That’s funny, Kim. That was my first thought too – this would be a good post for 22 Words!!

I think I agree with you Leslie. Our God is one who is so involved in all the details of our lives whether big or small. In my opinion every task, every favor, every blessing comes from Him anyway so in a since everything would be “God-sized” if you wanted to use that term.

Let’s retire ALL the terms that make less of God. Like “Holy cow, Holy ….well, anything.” And “oh my gosh, and oh my goodness” (both referring to God.) His name is holy and should be treated as such!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term before. I have heard ‘God moment’, and I’ve used it….it can sound like other moments aren’t God moments…when we know God is in everything!!!!…..but it’s just a way to say “this is a testimony of His faithfulness”, I think.
