Hot Air Balloon Race

At 5:45 AM yesterday I crept into the kids’ room to see how they were sleeping. We had been planning to go to a 6:30 AM hot air balloon race, but if they were sound asleep I thought I might let them sleep longer and we’d attend the 6 PM race. I went into the girls’ room first. One whisper from me and Hannah was out of the bed. In the boys’ room, Ben and Noah jumped out of their beds and said, “We’ve been awake! We were just waiting for you to come tell us when it was time to get up.”

I probably don’t have to tell you how thankful I am that they didn’t come to wake me when they first woke up.

I can’t remember the last time my kids got ready and in the van so fast. They were a little exited about seeing so many huge balloons in one place.

The early morning sky served as the perfect backdrop for the 60+ pictures I took. Enjoy!

  2. Very cool – and your pics are great. I would never have made it to anything that early in the morning!

  3. Wonderful! My kids loved the pictures too – especially since we just read about balloon races.

  4. A book that my kids and I loved is The Twenty-One Balloons by William Pene du Bois.
