pictures and words
Thanks for coming over from the Blogger site. Please update your links and feeds before you leave.
Moving has been on my mind for several months now. Having read a few articles about how Google handles searches bothered me just a little bit. Moving to WordPress may not impact that at all, but at least I’ve downloaded all my posts and moved off of Blogger. I feel better knowing that one day I won’t find my host locked the back door of my blog because of my opinion.
One big change in the new place is the name. After my second year of blogging, I started feeling like Lux Venit was a bit more serious sounding of a blog than the one I was writing. If you’re a regular reader, then you already know that I write book reviews, little notes about my children, Bible study notes, political rants, and lots of silly posts. I changed the name to more accurately reflect that wide-ranging collection you’ve all come to know and appreciate.
If you read via a feed reader, then once you update your feed, you won’t notice any changes. 🙂
I’d love it if you would de-lurk to let me know you visited and what you think of my new home. Don’t be a stranger!
First commenter? How cool is that?
I like your new digs! Did you use one of the word press themes? It looks really good! I like the tabs at the top. Didn’t know you read “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Did you like it?

Thanks! I am using a WordPress theme. WordPress has restrictions on altering the CSS, which is fine by me until I learn some CSS. I may upgrade in the future if I learn how to change the appearance of the blog using CSS, but right now, I’m fine with it.
I LOVED The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I want to read more Hugo.

Looks good!
(your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is Les Miserables, the best novel ever written.)

Thanks, Kim! I definitely want to read Les Miserables. I have loved the soundtrack for years; I know and love the story, but I’ve never read it. Best novel ever, eh?

So, now you have a name? I like it! 🙂 Will have to check out the Hunchback on my next library visit (and will respectfully disagree with my dear friend Kim on the designation of Les Miserables even if she does do amazing calligraphy)…

Yep! Karl didn’t like what I was calling it, so I took it down (probably moments before your first visit). Then, we spent some time this afternoon knocking around different ideas and came up with Alabamenagerie. It’s different, that’s for sure.

You should have made the total jump to self-hosted WordPress with your own URL. That way the content is always yours.

hey leslie,
I’m still around :o)
first I’ve heard of blogger shutting down sites….not good! I would be overwhelmed at the idea of switching blogs…haven’t a clue how LOL!
yet, I would hate to loose anything….though i don’t think my blodgis all that threatening. It’s really the principle that bothers me….how dare they.
like the new look and name. Love the snow falling.
Merry Christmas.
PS we are moving (house) again so that’s why I haven’t been around much in blog land. can you believe it..moving again!
